Severe storms across the state last night and today have tornado watches and thunderstom warnings in effect. Around 4 a.m., A crack of thunder near simultaneous with the lightning had animals and humans gasping around here. In addition, these items of interest have been communicated:
A Mr. Settle reports an inch of “quarter-sized” hail in the parking lot of the Home Depot store near Interstate 85 in Hillsborough. This at about 4:15 p.m.
Last night, in the early morning hours, “pebble-sized” hail was reported on Manning Drive in Chapel Hill.
A Chatham resident near University Lake said “pea sized” hail came down at such a vigorous rate last night that she “thought the skylight would crack.”
